Philipp Beyeler is a Swiss award winning designer who recently designed the useful elegant Kuhn Rikon Mortar & Pestle. The design comprises of a porcelain bowl, which perfectly fits into the bamboo base.
You can grind spices or herbs in the bowl, liberating the tempting aromas whereas the sturdy bamboo base may be used for crushing walnuts, hard foods, almonds and other nuts as well.
